A frequently asked question is… where do I find the time?
For blogging.
For sewing.
For organizing.
For designing.
For sleeping…sometimes.
It’s called “Rest Time”. It occurs from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in our house, Monday through Friday. While the littlest naps, the big kids take on some school reading.
It’s amazing all that can be accomplished in a two hour period once you set your mind to it. It’s really as simple as that!

We do the same here....I think the more kids ya have (and homeschool), the better ya get at organizing time. Our quiet time is from 2-4 after school is done for the day.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog :)
This is so very TRUE... I set those types of goals in a different way. I say ok... I have one hour lets see what I can get done and WOW it's amazing. Thanks so much for sharing and have a lovely rest of your week :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sheila
Wow, that's organization. I need to take a nap every day, maybe I should schedule 1 to 3 for that time. Great idea and good for you. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteprecious post
ReplyDeletei love seeing your precious children in just an ordinary moment in their day
just precious
& lets hear it for 1-3!
Gorgeous photos of your children :) How wonderful that you can all enjoy quiet time in your house at this part of the day - in our house this is our quiet time too when Grace is napping and I can read or catch up on blogs x
ReplyDeleteKids need naps and reading time. Not to mention the security of a scheduale. You are an awesome parent and oeganizer. olive
ReplyDeleteNice pictures. They look so peaceful, just the way it should be.
ReplyDeleteAmen to the nap time... luckily all mine are still napping. A good family schedule is priceless!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are on to something! Your children are precious!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

love these pic's of your children
ReplyDeleteAw yes, nap time. When adam outgrows it, I plan to set a timer for him to have quiet time, too. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids never balked at nap time. I always reassured them that they didn't "have" to nap... they just had to rest. Many times they did fall asleep but sometimes they just looked at books or hummed to themselves.
ReplyDeleteAmen! We call ours quiet time. Sometimes naps are involved, other times just reading or writing... but I have always believed quiet, naps, and pondering are Musts for a happy home!
ReplyDeleteWe all need that time, don't we?
ReplyDeleteIt seems especially when you homeschool, it is tough to find spare time. You have done it well.
You kids are just precious. I need to get back on track with this...it does make home run so much smoother! Thanks for the inspiration:).

Those are precious pictures. I especially enjoyed seeing your daughter playing with your dachshund's paws! I have two long haired dachshunds and play with their feet too. I am glad you have opened an etsy shop. Love your things.
ReplyDeleteWe do this at my house too....even though my kids are now teens. We love our down time and often it turns into naptime for my active sons.

ReplyDeleteOh, that´s just so great. And true. Very precious. Just love the order of it all! L
ReplyDeleteOh they are all so cute !!!.........precious picture...............from a lovely moment..............love Ria.......
ReplyDeleteWe need to do this. Thanks for the nudge.
ReplyDeletePeople also ask me this question and one thing I say is that we don't have television and we don't drive all over the place each day.
Beautiful peaceful pictures.
Warm wishes, Tonya
Tonya,
ReplyDeleteThat's true! I forgot about that part of the equation... tv. We get a lot accomplished in the evening since we don't have tv. We also don't belong to a ton of extracurricular activities (besides music lessons). So... I guess we are home all the time.

I have 6 girls (you may remember me, I bought the rooster pillow from you a few weeks back) and we've done Rest Time from the time my oldest was little. My oldest is now 13 and still has Rest Time, even in the summer. The 13, 12 and 8 year olds look forward to their reading time every day and the 6, 4 and 2 year olds have a good 2 hour nap every day. People always ask me if they go to bed late because of the nap. Nope! They go to bed around 7:30, lights out around 8:00. I'm a firm believer that growing kids need their sleep and rest time!
ReplyDeleteLove the title of this post! Unfortunately my little one is on her own when I'm in project mode, but I always set aside some quality time with her to make up for it. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs~

had never heard of this until the Lord told me to do it about three years ago. we call it siesta. usu from 1-3 or so and we ALL look forward to it. they are all sad if we have to skip it for some reason. the little three and very pregnant mommy sleep and the big three play or read quietly. such a blessing. and to find out that so many others do it too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wise gal, there! I homeschooled my now-26 and -23 year olds, and we had "Quiet Time" each day, too, plus we accomplished five days' schoolwork in four, which made for a three-day weekend. I calendared their weekly/monthly educational goals and they did what they must to accomplish them: set their own alarms, went to bed when they "should," got up on their own. They knew I took off my teacher hat at a particular time each day. It worked. Throughout their college education they were on the dean's list, too! Homeschool disciplines (and a mother who enforced them) has and will benefit my children (and me!) for the rest of their lives, and quiet/rest time plays a major part.
ReplyDeleteYou're so smart and a great mother! Your children are darling and this is a great routine, for everyone...even the puppies get a peaceful time :) Love it! All the best to you and yours!
