I had my eye on this wire lampshade for months. Lonely she sat at my favorite antique store, just waiting for me to pick her up.
And when I brought her home, she begged me for a skirt.
But a casual one, thank you very much.
Some flirty ties finish the look rather sweetly.
And below is the newest pillow in my shop.
A literary token of affection for “my beloved”.

Whenever I move into a more permanent home (sometime soon), I will buy the beloved pillow. It is in my favorite color and my husbands name means BELOVED. Can't wait. Nice work. Can't wait to see all you will create.

Cute slip for the shade. The pillow on the bed caught my eye too.
ReplyDeleteOh Rie, may I copy this? I have some naked lampshades and tried to make something out of them with lace and frills and pearls and never got satisfied with the result... but simple is often the best!... and the pillow: LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteSo happy that I saw this today. I have one of those and had no ideal how to make it fit with my style. I can't sew but this is heading to my seamstress...
ReplyDeleteBoth the pillow and the shade are gorgeous! I never would have thought to line the inside of the shade!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the pillow. When I saw the close-up photo and read it, it took my breath away. So romantic...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like you :)

ReplyDeleteboth the lamp and the pillow are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have been a drooling stalker of your site for a long time now; everything you do is just breathtaking. I love looking at the pics of your home because you have such great ideas! I'd love to replicate it all. Anyway, I was wondering if you'd mind sharing how you made this liner. I'm trying to figure out what kind of material you used and how you made it. Did you use a pattern or just make it up as you went? Much thanks!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Rie. It looks like it was meant to be part of your beautiful home:) Enjoy. Wishing you a wonderful week as always ~ Tina x
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous!
ReplyDeleteIt's drop cloth material from Home Depot (or Lowes). Cheap fabric! I put the fabric over one of the panels of the wire lamp, and traced around with a marker. Then leaving a bit of room on the sides for seam allowance, I cut the marked up fabric. Then used that as a pattern to cut 7 more panels. I sewed them all together to make a skirt, ironed the seams, and gluegunned the top to the inside rim, and the bottom corners to the bottom rim of the lampshade. I made the ties easily by cutting the hem of the drop cloth fabric (it was already hemmed and just the right size for the ties!). I tied the ties where I gluegunned the panel corners to the lamp. I hope this makes sense!!
I think you need to start offering these lampshades in your shop... they would be a huge hit! I'd like to order one if you do!
ReplyDeleteYou are one talented gal, Rie!
I agree, please consider selling the lampshades in your shop. Best Wishes, Kenda
