Baby Tears
Several people have asked me the name of this plant sitting on our side table. I hadn't a clue, and the only help I could offer up was that it is very hardy. The only thing I ever do is give it a little drink when it looks thirsty. It's lasted over three years, and in this house, that's saying a lot. I'll never have a gardening blog.
Brooke from Velvet and Linen has come to the rescue! She recently included some plants in a dining room makeover, and lo and behold, they were the same plants as mine! Take a look:

Baby Tears is the name. What an absolutely sweet and suitable name for a delicate plant such as this. Knowing the name makes me love it even more. :) Thanks Brooke!

That is one of my favorite house plants...it was one of the first plants a friend ever shared with me when we were young brides. She had such a green thumb and I was a novice...uh...she is STILL a green thumb...I am STILL a novice.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love the delicate beauty of this plant...it is sweet and unassuming, showy only in it's sweet littl way. Does yours the delicate little white blossoms? It seems to me that it had to have just the right amount of filtered light and water to bloom properly? Love it- Diana
I've never seen that before but if it has lasted that long for you then it might be the plant for me. No green thumb over here!
ReplyDeletefinally! maybe something other than air plants i might not kill! and oh, long standing question i always think of when i see pics of your home...how do you keep all the white all so WHITE! we have finger prints from one end of the house to the other, and popcicle drips, and sharpie marks...and i TRY to keep those things where they go...but geesh! the mess on the walls and trim! do you wipe down every day!
ReplyDeleteIt IS a very pretty plant. So delicate!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a happy weekend! :-)

It IS a lovely plant! I always feel like my cats would eat any houseplant I tried to have so I never bother but that plant makes me rethink.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!! sounds like a plant for me!!!
ReplyDeleteI had Baby Tears in my bathroom and loved it...until I forgot to have someone watch it while we went out of town...talk about REAL TEARS!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love ferns and ivy inside... I haven't seen Baby Tears but I am going to look for it and try it out too! I love it
ReplyDeleteLove it and any of the really delicate looking plants. Just can't get them to grow. Maybe I will tackle this one. It is perfect. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAllison-
ReplyDeleteThe white and keeping it all clean... we use a Magic Eraser. Keep in mind that things on the screen appear much cleaner than in real life. So, it is not sparkling over here.
When things start looking especially dingy though, we take some swipes with the eraser. Our worst spots are door edges and the stairwell.
Diana,
ReplyDeleteNo ours does not bloom. That probably has everything to do with me not knowing what I'm doing. :)
Its beautiful and I love the name! Rachaelxo

I remember seeing a "baby tears" plant AGES ago and falling in love with it.
ReplyDeleteI've gotta try to remember to look for one b4 winter sets in!
:)
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI probably got it at Home Depot or Lowes in thair plant section. But again, it was a few years ago.
:) Rie
Love it, where can you buy one?
ReplyDeleteWe call this plant, Peace in the Home. If you have one that is growing as well as this one, there is peace in the home. If the plant dies then there obviously isn't. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh Rie, I just came accross your blog and it's BEAUTIFUL. You have a lovely home and such a gorgeous family. Will be a regular follower from now on. The plant is gorgeous, but it's the whole style and how you've put it together that enchants! xx
ReplyDeleteI need a few new plants for my home... and I, too, have no green thumb. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteRie, What a lovely blog... and family! Plants give such life to a room, and your baby tears look fabulous on the pedestal.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to visit you.
Yvonne
