Do you know why blue is often chosen for porch ceilings? A little fact - Flies are supposed to be repelled by that color. Just one of the useless trivia facts I learned ...somewhere.

I LOVE that you're going to do this and I can't wait to see the finished product! It reminds me of an issue of Cottage Living where a young girl in her first home painted not the ceiling, but the floors of her front porch in light gray and cream stripes. I've never forgotten that.
ReplyDelete.heather.
I love a blue porch ceiling... we used to have one. Apparently it is supposed to detract birds. Someday I will tell you my blue porch/mean little swallows story. I 'll save it for a day when you really need a laugh!;)
ReplyDeleteTHe Grand Hotel is famous for its porch.. also with a blue painted ceiling. Lowe's American Traditions carries the color, I cannot recall the name but I think it is Grand Hotel Porch Blue.. or something like that. It is stunning!
I cannot wait to see your finished porch. Your home is so beautiful!!!!
Hi again, Rie!
ReplyDeleteI just checked. it is Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue. I was close! ;D
I love a blue porch ceiling. I can't paint mine here as it is clad to protect it from our wicked winters. I can't wait to see yours painted though! Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteI love the first blue! It will look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have anything but a blue porch ceiling. We were always told it was to keep dirt daubers from building their nests up there. Not sure if that's true but it's nice to have a story... Happy painting.
ReplyDeleteyou know, we painted our dining room ceiling this color. it is my favorite room in the house now.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will look fabulous....can't wait to see :)
ReplyDeletexo,
