New Entry

It’s in!  There’s nothing like a big gaping hole in the front of your house to motivate project completion.  :)

The old french doors moved to the side of the house to replace some rotten ones.

We stained and kept the wood (on the exterior side anyway).  Oak isn’t my favorite wood grain, but when you find a door that’s worth a couple thousand dollars and pay only $150.00 for it, the pickiness subsides.  :)   We took the hanging lantern from inside the house, and hung it over the door.  I love the contrast between the metal, wood, and painted siding.

Now all she needs is a little dressing up.  I’ll be sure to share the adornments once completed.  Have a happy holiday!

  3. Rie-The door is gorgeous. Lots of old homes had oak doors-it was considered a sign of strength and sturdiness. You did good!! $150?? WOW! The porch already looks beautiful even if you don't do another thing to it! Hugs- Diana

  5. I am not a big fan of oak myself, but sometimes it is perfect. Your door looks gorgeous with the white siding and blue ceiling.

  21. Your front door looks great. It’s good that you stained it because it improves its quality and gives shine to the surface as well. Its contrasting appeal towards the sidings makes the door unique too. I like it!

  22. That stained door really makes it very welcoming. The color really blends well with the rest of your home. A door color like that is absolutely timeless! By the way, you should try coating it with Valspar paint. Trust me, you'll absolutely love it!
