I always knew deep down inside that my wild-for-me bohemian bathroom would never last.
And I was right. It was just too, well… wild for me.
Farewell fancy skirt, hello wicker basket.

The enameled “flower box” is now holding some seashells and mixed with the Dash and Albert rug, it’s all looking rather beachy. Which must mean I’m ready for summer.

One thing I hadn’t shared before, was the copper pipe we integrated into the sink base. I love that we can see it now. I think it adds a clean, industrial element.
A fresh change, for the time being.

looks wonderful!! i adore dash & albert rugs!

Your bath update is so pretty. I love that copper pipe and the big basket. Everything plays off one another so well!
ReplyDeleteI remember thinking that was very daring of you at the time of the original post! I think the new look is great (though the old, bold look was fun, too!)
ReplyDeleteLove it! About to redo our master bath and am going to get great white towels with that thick beautiful basket...thanks for the inspiration! Have a sweet day!
ReplyDeleteWait!! Are we already on to decorating for summer or are you down under?? I'm soooo behind!
ReplyDeleteIt looks sooooooo clean and fresh for sure. Love the changes. Beautiful vanity and the basket if fabulous. Gorgeous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI like both the before and after! Either please!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful. I am ready for summer too.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful. Love the look of wicker in a bathroom.
ReplyDeleteIt did look lovely before but I prefer the new look. I struggle to live with pattern and colour and find a simple look so much easier to live with.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get sick of that rug please feel free to send it to me - we can't get Dash and Albert in the UK! Unfortunately.
~Sam
Your new look is really great...but I loved the old one too...the pattern on the skirt is fab!
ReplyDeleteSo far I have just been thinking about changes, and not executing...but I think you have inspired me.

Love it Rie! Looks even better now, especially love the copper showing! ;) Hugs,Rachel

moocho betta...i love this! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! I'm just like that... once in a while I have to try to incoperate color or bold fabric but I get so quickly tired of it and when I'm back to white/neutral it's just like "ahhhh".
ReplyDeleteAnd your new bathroom pics are definately "ahhhh"!!!
rie,
ReplyDeletewhatever you do is wonderful but i know what you mean when something's not quite right. i'm feeling the same way about some of the curtains in my home. they just aren't doing it for me. patience is the key, until i figure out an alternative that i love.
your home is always an inspiration for me.
ps...my bath remodel is on the home stretch...can't wait til i can post!
Too funny, I just posted about the same type of thing on my blog today..being a neutral nelly :). I love the updated look...more refined, more fresh and inviting.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! Love the clean lines!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful...love that blue rug-

Rie,
ReplyDeleteChanging thing up a bit does wonders for the soul, doesn't it? I love your blog and have read some of your archives. I laughed out loud when i read about your "disease." Guess what...i have the same disease and suffer from the exact symptoms from time to time:) My husband completely agrees!
That basket makes the room!! LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteI must say I love the new look and your blog..
ReplyDeletegreat change! I adore baskets, and love how you've stored the towels in yours.
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I read..."it was too wild for me.."
ReplyDeleteI loved it....but I totally get your love for all things simple and white and clean.
I like it both ways. I do like seeing that pipe. It's pretty cool. It's nice you can make these changes fairly easily. I have a big cabinet under my sink and the only way to freshen it is to paint it which is certainly a bit of work. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteamazing 'refresh'! looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI really want to put a smaller vanity into my teeny tiny bath. I like the chunkiness, but also the simplicity of yours. My problem is that my pipes come up through the floor. I need to disguise them.
ReplyDeleteI love it both ways. I guess you could switch back when you mood is feeling wild again!
ReplyDeleteWhere did your get your towels? Love striped rug and the copper bar detail...very pretty.
ReplyDeleteMary Ann
I like the copper pipe...was it out of necessity or just for it's striking good looks?!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice really knowing who you are, decorating-wise. And sometimes you need to stray a little to remind yourself of where you really belong. Beautiful bathroom!
ReplyDeleteLove it.very fresh indeed!
ReplyDeletePS. i MENT to mention i seen your blog blurb in the jan issue of RH! It was just lovely

Just out of a plain old practical concern - where are the toothbrushes kept?
ReplyDeleteKT
KT- the toothbrushes are stored behind the mirror (inset cabinet).
ReplyDeleteAs with everything you touch... simply beautiful, Rie.:)
ReplyDeletehugs and blessings,
Melanie
Rie- I love the little tweaks you make to your spaces. The little striped rug is a charming touch!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

It looks great. I love the baskets too.
ReplyDeleteI want it on my Tacoma Homes.
So very pretty. I'm going for a beachy feel in my whole house, so this is speaking to me. I love it!
ReplyDeleteHowever, present-day plumbing make use of copper pipes for central heating pipe-work and for water feeds. However, the use of modern plastic pipes, brass, and even steel are also slowly taking place.
