Lately I’ve been pulling the covers up over our pillows and calling the bed “made”. With our new (old) farmhouse style frame, it just seems fitting. Like something Ma would have done out on the prairie.
The simplicity and ease has grown on me to the point that I rather prefer it. The extra pillows are stored away for the time being.
Our sweet Penny passed away last year, and since we couldn’t get along with only one dog in the house, we added a second long haired dachshund.
The children named the little guy Arthur Scott Bailey after their favorite children’s author.
I think he makes up for the lack of adornment on the bed. I’ve always admired the white-on-white color scheme after all.
:)

I'm not fond of dogs, but he is cute! Love white on white too..... =)
ReplyDeletehow absolutely precious is he!!!
ReplyDelete& i love his name :)

That dog makes me squeal with delight! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a little cutie! He's a perfect accessory for your gorgeous bedroom. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! He is super cute!!! I grew up with two Dachsunds, a male and a female. Your pics make me want another one. You're right he is the perfect accessory, and your bed looks great with the covers pulled up. Lot's of pillows would cover the headboard.

That's funny! I use my dog and cats for accessories too. They just go so well! Lol
ReplyDeleteKim:)
oh he is such a cutie never seen a white 1.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie! Soaking up the sun.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about the extra pillows. If it serves no purpose then no need for it (except maybe somedays to make it pretty when you're in the mood!). But sweet Arthur makes up for the lack of fluffy excess, so cute in his own puppy way.
ReplyDeleteYour bed is so cozy and just cries out to be snuggled in. Also, now I have puppy fever. Thanks a heap!
ReplyDeleteHi Rie-I am new to your blog and I LOVE it. I too am a Christian mom with a design itch. :) We have a beautiful Golden Retriever who is nearly 13, and I am hopeful to one day have a dachsund because I find them hysterical. :D Thank you for all the inspiration. Come by and say hi sometime. :) Steph.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteWarm regards, Ingrid
Oh, the puppy! My heart is melting!

I'm new to your blog. Coming by way of Flea Market magazine. Hello! I love how the sunshine is shining on the bed and your super cute dog!
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable....I am very partial to dachunds...my mother always had one...I didn't know they came in that colour though....I like the bed making thing....My granny always pulled the covers over the pillow...she siad it ekpt the dust off the pillows and was better for you...
ReplyDeleteOMG!! That is THE cutest little puppy EVER! I'm serious...and I need to see more pics... please!
ReplyDeleteI am so distracted by the cute puppy that I have to go back to see the bed. :)
ReplyDeleteOh ! He is darling...just darling...love that white on white look myself! Hugs-Diana
ReplyDeleteI think pulling the covers over the pillows is a wonderful idea. It works so well and looks fabulous and a little unexpected since you don't see it much theses days. Love the look. Personally I keep pillow to a one maybe two accent pillows. More than that tends to make me crabby with I have to move them around, and that just isn't the point of pillows. I'm thinking tomorrow morning I may have to try your "new" way of making the bed to try it out.
ReplyDeleteArthur is down-right adorable. I love the photos of him in little ray of sunlight, so sweet.
we are looking to buy a long haired mini dachshund but they seem to be rare here in Pa, and is the color of yours a rarity? so adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI think that's the sweetest dog I've ever seen! I don't think I've ever seen a "blonde" dachshund before. Even MORE adorable :)
ReplyDeletePretty puppy and pretty coverlet! I love easy bed making!
ReplyDeleteHollie=)
your new puppy is adorable and the bed looks good enough to crawl in......
ReplyDeleteLOVE the look and lack of fussiness.
what a cutie-patootie! I have a dachshund named penny too! Arthur is so adorable, I had forgotten how cute Dachsies are as puppies! I really like your bed too! Simple is better! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteKisses of welcome and snuffly snuggles to Arthur Scott Bailey! He's a doll. Dogs are my favorite accessorie.
ReplyDeleteOh my what a pretty little english cream dachshund. He is so pretty. I didn't know you had dachshunds. I do to. Four of them. I can't live without them. Nothing better in the world than a doxie puppy. I have a longhair and three shorthairs.
ReplyDeletei always remember my mom making the bed like that, so funny, I would have forgot if I didn't see it here.
ReplyDeletethanks.
also, congrats on your feature in Flea Market Mag. Lovely!

He is absolutely Adorable!! I've never seen a blonde long hair mini dachshund. Can't wait to watch him interact with your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie! And I love the name.
ReplyDeleteWhere in the world did you find your puppy? I have never seen cream dashies. LOVE your blog btw!
ReplyDeleteArthur is adorable! Hi, I just found you today, so I have plenty of catching up to do on your site. My husband and I just bought our first house at athe age of forty one. Finally! We have no human children (lol), but two potbelly pigs, a bassett hound, tortoises, snakes, rats, turtles, lizards, toads, and so on and so on.... it's a crazy house, but we would not have it any other way. I look forward to keeping up with you!
ReplyDeleteThe puppy is precious. We have a long haired red dachshund and her name is Penny, she looks a lot like the one always curled up on the couch. It's amazing how much they just curl up in a nest and sleep. The blondes are so pretty. Enjoy your new sweetness, he is the perfect accessory for your bed.
ReplyDeleteYour Arthur Scott Bailey is too cute! Your photos are also quite gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNatasha xo
I think he is defintely the best adornment I have ever seen on a bed:o) How could you ever say no to that face? Thanks for sharing the photos...Carrie
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you could tell me exactly what kind of long haired dachshund he is? Our family has been considering and I love this little guy...particularly his colour.
ReplyDeleteThanks and enjoy your blog.
Jenny
Jenny- he’s called an English Cream Miniature Long Haired Dachshund. We love him and he is so pretty! The cream ones are harder to find. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteoh rie, he is SO sweet & his color is beautiful. i just love puppies, our is already 10 months old...my how time flies.
