Did you think our bedroom looked a little bare in the last post:
Yeah, me too.
So I added a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Romantic touches here and there.
Like these crewelwork framed pieces passed down from two generations. They add a sweet vintage touch:
And this darling purse belonged to my grandmother who recently passed away.
Whenever I dress up I really do use it. It always makes me think of her and the elegance she exuded.
Do you dress like your house? I do. At least conceptually. Simple with a feminine twist… that’s me.
I used an old battery crate turned upside down to serve as an ottoman. The chair is from Wisteria:
Oh, and I painted the bed on a complete whim. I woke up one morning and decided it needed to be our island color.
But now I think it’s a little too light. And not quite right.
But good enough for now.

Where are you getting your energy? I love everything you and your hubby have done. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteDid your yard and house survive yesterday's storms? Our NC cast was pretty beaten.
It is gorgeous! I love that chair and the crate as an ottoman.
ReplyDeleteNot just good enough for now. Your room is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe crate as an ottoman is so creative. I love the added touches. Our style is the same whether it's in our house or how we dress; comfortable. It doesn't matter if we dress for work or dress for a special occasion, whether we are hanging out at home or having company, we like comfort. I like the bed painted but I also liked it before :)
ReplyDeleteI love the chair and ottoman, too. You never cease to amaze me - in so many ways. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteLoved it before, but your additions are so perfectly appointed. I adore that you have your grandma's pocketbook hanging in your room. How sentimentally lovely is that? And like everyone else, the crate for an ottoman is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteB.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L!! ~ xx
ReplyDeleteHonestly I noticed the painted bed straight away, the color is pretty but what if you distressed it a bit, then some stain? That might make it not so bright but still work as painted.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks gorgeous! Love the chair and your painted bed - the battery crate adds so much too! Beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's amazing what a few little accessory touches can do! This is where I struggle the most in my decorating . . . all the little homey touches that make a room that is fine into one that is warm and inviting. Love the room!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I love your loose, casual style!

I love this room! Your "Little of this and little of that" things are just great! Great photo's! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,

You have a terrific way of pulling pieces together to create a beautiful home. I featured your blog today at stylesson.com.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for a while now, but this is the first time I've commented. I love how beautifully simple & honest your decorating is. You're blog is one of my favorites & I always look forward to your posts. The bedroom is great! You have such talent and are quite humble about it!

I absolutely love your style. It's what I would like our home to look like! Your bedroom is amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm impressed you painted the bed on a whim like that. I never hesitate to paint over paint, but I am a little afraid to paint wood - it seems so permanent - what if I want the wood back?? The room is lovely - so sweetly staged.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Rie! Those small touches always make a big impact! And what a sweet touch with your grandmom's purse. :)

I think the bed is beautiful, I love the color. Do you mind sharing the color name? and did you paint the bed frame with a brush? The finish looks smooth, just wondering how you got it that way. Beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous! I actually linked to the paint color in my post. When I said "our island color", if you click that, it will bring you to a post where I stated what paint formulation it is. I painted the posts with a brush and the flat parts with a roller. It does look smooth, which I'm glad about.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the bed!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo shoot!
ReplyDeleteWhere are your dressers? Do you hang everything up? How do you do it?
ReplyDeleteI love your space it looks so relaxing. When you get a chance checkout my latest post. My idea for my cane chair came from yours I combined your chair with one I saw on Sarah Richardson show :) I think its a good combination.
