It’s only been 5 months, although it seems like we’ve spent an eternity together. I’ll always remember your rustic surface and the way dirt and various debris stuck to you. You provided daily exfoliation for my feet, which came in handy during sandal weather. What you lacked in beauty, you made up for in practical ways. All spills (which were frequent) just soaked right into you. I never had to mop. Not once! The cracks here and there not only provided a window-view into our earthen crawlspace, but they also made for wonderful built-in dustpans. My children especially enjoyed sweeping dinner fragments into the cracks for the camel crickets living below. No wonder the little buggers like hanging out at our house so much. We have you to thank. Even though we will be covering you up this week, it’s comforting to know you’ll always be there under all the layers.
Your humbled homeowner,
Rie

That's so funny! I can relate. We walked on plywood for two years before we could lay a floor. I know you will welcome your new floor!
ReplyDeleteOh- I have been there/done that! I can't wait to see your new floor...and just think, you will have new flooring for the Holidays! Hopefully, it WILL be done by Thanksgiving? xo Diana

5 months! I'd say it's definitely time for the two of you to separate ; )
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to meeting the new floor in your life!
Hilarious. This renovation adventure must be quite the character-building experience. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the laugh...5 months is definitely a serious relationship by todays standards!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the breakup, just think your relationship with that floor lasted longer than Kim Kardashians marriage!!! You may miss the exfoliation part, at least I would....No more ped-egg for me if I had that floor. HAHA! I am sure the new one will be beautiful, keep us posted. Will it be like those beautiful pickled ones you did in the other house? They still make me smile!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post most of all today. Thanks for the smile..
ReplyDeleteVery cute!! I can't imagine how you lived with it for this long...can't wait to see the new floor!

SOOOO funny! Can't wait to see what's next ;)
ReplyDeleteWe moved into an old house when my 3 children were in 9-14. We renovated pretty much the entire house all at once. It was pretty crazy at the time but we laugh about it now. My kids, my husband and I have great memories of living life in our own little construction site. I am sure your grown up kids will chuckle when they come home to your lovely renovated home and remember sweeping dirt between those cracks.
ReplyDeleteHi Rie! now we are all curious to see the new floor! And I also want to invite you to my Shabby Apple giveaway...they are offering a beautiful dress!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
