Every January I treat myself to some little splurges, thanks to the birthday money burning a hole in my pocket. I always seem to have my eye on a few specific things throughout the year that I hope will still be there for my special birthday spree. The funny thing is, my splurges (almost always) come from Anthropologie.
It never fails… every year after trying on some delightful little numbers in Anthropologie’s dressing room, I end up walking out of the store with things for my home instead. I like pretty clothes as much as the next girl, but I love home décor more.
This past year, my eye was on The Noble Peasant Shower Curtain. But yikes, the price! I couldn’t justify it until January. Did you know if you have their Anthro card (not a credit card), they’ll send you a 15% off coupon for your birthday month? That eases the guilt… a little. So, the curtain is what I walked out with this year.
It’s romantic without looking girly. Does that make sense? A lovely subtle damask design sweeps the top and bottom. The fabric is a thick linen and is lined.

Lovely little presents, Happy Belated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteRie, I know how hard it is to live through this stage of renovating a house - I will have to send you some before pictures of our house, with holes in walls and floors - not pretty! We are just finishing up - nearly 3 years in the process - and I just want to encourage you that you can make it! We have a large family and homeschool also, and I know that makes things extra crazy, but that rest and enjoyment of all your hard work will be so worth it. I have struggled at times with feeling guilty about the time invested in our house as being time not "spent" with the kids, but now to see how they are learning to appreciate hard work and care for their house that their parents have worked so hard on, not to mention the work they put into it with us, I think that for the most part it has been a wonderful lesson for their character development. I am so excited to see how your house turns out and reading as you share the blessings and lessons learned along the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your encouragement!!! It is helpful to hear from someone who has been there. :)
DeleteLove this!! Sure wish I had an Anthro nearby. As it is, I sit and drool over other's purchases. Not the same online as being in their gorgeous stores. Can't wait to see your bathroom as it progresses : )
ReplyDeleteI love your style!!!!! All of it!
ReplyDeleteI know that the pretty shower curtain gave the bathroom a little face lift! Hang in there {no pun intended}!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow!
XO,
Jane
LOVE Anthropologie... don't so much love their prices! Eeek!! So glad you had a little birthday fun!! And quick question- do you mind telling me where you got the sofa in your blog header? I'm wanting a comfy white sofa so badly, but I just can't find one that looks quite as "cottagey" as yours! Thanks and Happy Birthday!! xoxo Brooke
ReplyDeleteHi Brooke,
DeleteThe couch is from clubfurniture.com. If you do a search on my sidebar, I talk more about it (specifically the model name). Hope it helps! We love it and has lasted great so far for five years now.
What a lovely shower curtain, we dont have anthropologie here, and our floors upstairs are still bare particle board! Uggh!
ReplyDeleteThe shower curtain is very nice and I love how you made the pillow..
ReplyDeleteHaPpY BiRtHdAy..
That's so funny I do the same Anthro thing for my birthday. The 15% does make it easier plus they always send the card in the cutest way.
ReplyDeleteBon anniversaire, Rie! Mine was last Friday and when I went to Anthro to peruse their "stuff", I asked if they still did a 15% off for birthdays. (I didn't go there at all last Jan..) I was told that no, unless I had received a birthday card in the mail from Anthro, that it was just a random thing. She asked me when my birthday was and I told her it was that day, so she said that I would have already received the birthday "card" by then, since she explained that people are chosen randomly. The last time I received a b'day card from them was Jan 09. Well, at least I was picked once in 3 years! I think I'll write to their company and ask them to include ALL their customers... All this to say, you've been blessed!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I get a card in the mail every year. Perhaps the person at anthro didn't really know?? I am curious.
DeleteHappy belated birhday, Rie! I guess this shower curtain will make you smile everytime you enter the bathroom (and make you bear the not so nice other features with patience)! :)
ReplyDeleteHow comes you and I are so alike we could be sisters? ;) But I was reasonable and spent my birthday money on new boots back in November :)...
Love, Margitta
Happy Birthday and what a fabulous curtain ! Love the little pillow too ! gail x
ReplyDeleteAm always looking forward to your next post! Happy Birthday and many Blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteRie,
ReplyDeleteI sent Anthro an email explaining my situation and they replied back saying, "It's in the mail", so it pays to contact companies. I hope they'll let me apply it to my $60 "birthday purchase from last Friday (it never hurts to ask!) and I hope to receive it before the 31st. I liked their metal twig letters...Your shower curtain beautifies your bath-in-progress! :)
Yahoo, I am so happy for you!
Deletewhat a pretty addition to your bath in progress!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful shower curtain!, and how totally completely cool that you made a pillow out of the zippered container, it's just as pretty as the shower curtain. Good for you for having a splurge! Anthropology is pretty darn irresistible, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love to see how your house is coming along!!! So cool!
ReplyDeleteAnd the bath curtain is really pretty! I love Anthro too...yet their prices are quite high...oh, well. I agree, the bath curtain is certainly "romantic without looking girly" - good choice!
I've been stalking your blog for weeks now and am so glad to see you posted an update! LOVE the shower curtain, and can't wait to see the next home update. Thanks for sharing your reno and life with us!

Brilliant use of the pretty packaging! I, too, love Anthro but can't justify the price of most things unless there's a sale. But, it's the little things that add up to some serious style, like your fabulous new shower curtain! Glad you have something lovely to look at while renovating. Also glad to see an update- I've been lurking out here looking for a post.
ReplyDeleteso happy to see you post.....have missed you out in blog land!
ReplyDeleteThe shower curtain is beautiful, as is anything from your favorite store..and mine!

Lovely shower curtain! The first thing I purchased for our recent bathroom reno was a shower curtain from Anthropologie and it set the tone for the entire room. And you are so right, the packing is wonderful. I almost made a pillow but instead (cringe) cut it apart and used a portion of the fabric for a sail atop a driftwood boat happily resting in the bath and matching the curtain perfectly. Best wishes in your renovation!
ReplyDeleteIt's always like receiving a present when you post. Cannot wait to see the kitchen. I bet you are knee deep into it now. xo
ReplyDeletelove love love Anthro...the catalogue is like taking a vacation with my eyes!
ReplyDeleteI always end up buying for the house too! I love the curtain and what a clever idea to make a cushion. Belated Happy Birthday! Love Linda x
ReplyDeleteI love Anthropologie and like you I buy things for the house. I have several tops from Anthro from the back sale room. My Anthro splurge this year was a green satchel I found on Pinterest. I saw it at full price and just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. The week before Christmas is was 50% off and I jumped on it. At checkout I was amazed to find out it was an extra 30% off. Now I am having fun planning outfits around my kelly green bag.
